"I originally started looking for Aquarobics classes in 2012, looking for a form of exercise that helped motivate me to be more active, while not aggravating problems I've had for many years with stiff and sometimes painful knees. When I started researching the classes that were available, I was surprised (and pleased) to find that the best variety and most flexible timetable of classes I could find was available at Massey Park Aquatic Centre, and only 2km from home.
I've particularly enjoyed (and benefited) from the Aquarobics classes, and in particular the Aqua Gymstick classes. Not only have they helped me to get more physical activity into my day, but they have helped my knees as well. My instructors Vicki and Carol both create a vibrant atmosphere that makes the classes enjoyable and make you want to come back for more.
Most importantly, their expertise means that their classes are suitable for a wide range of abilities and they are able to clearly explain and demonstrate how to perform the exercises correctly.
Earlier this year I moved to Australia and I've spent a considerable amount of time looking for Aquarobics classes comparable to what I attended at Massey Park, and I've been generally disappointed by the classes on offer. Classes in Australia are often very gentle and difficult to scale for higher fitness levels, or exercises are set that are either impossible to perform correctly or are not suitable for the pool being used."
