Ages 5-12 years
Introduction
We pride ourselves in making a safe, fun and enjoyable environment for children to play and learn. This year we are taking a slightly different approach and concentrating on an educational line. (Don’t worry kids; there is no Maths, English or homework for that matter.) We concentrate on the type of education that children need on a day to day basis like how to read traffic at a busy intersection and how to read a map if they get off at the wrong bus stop.
Operating Times
The holiday programme will run from 8:30am till 5:30pm. You will find us located in the Competition Pool (25m Lane Pool) in the back corner with our big blue tent. Every morning we begin with free time starting around 9am - If you arrive after this time you will find us located in the wave pool having fun. The holiday programme will finish at 5:30pm. From 5:00pm we are packing up and getting ready to go home for the day. Please note that an early fee will apply if your child is dropped of before 8:30am and a late fee will apply if your child is picked up after 5:30pm.
Signing In and Out
It is of the utmost importance for your child’s safety that a parent or guardian signs the role for that day. This role is used to complete role checks for morning tea, lunch and when we are out on an activity.
Swimming Lessons
Every day your child will have a swimming lesson to suit their ability in the water. We take great pride in our swimming lessons, as we believe that each and every child should learn at least the very basics of swimming as to be safer around water. For your child to progress with their swimming, it is very important that they come prepared. We require that each child have a pair of goggles and for children with long hair a hair tie to keep their hair out of their way.
What to bring
Each day is different therefore we have a small but essential list for children to bring daily. A hat, water bottle, morning tea & lunch (or money to purchase food) will be required. Along with closed in shoes for outings away from the facility.
Lunch
At morning tea and lunchtime children are given the opportunity to purchase some food from the café. We don’t make many rules in regards to what your child can eat - We require that no lollies are bought or eaten at the facility. If you wish for us to complete lunch box checks to ensure all packed lunch is eaten before food is purchased then please see us in the morning when you sign in.
Education
As mentioned in the introduction we are aiming to take a slightly different approach this year and introduce an educational theme. Whenever people think of the word, education, they automatically think of sitting behind a desk writing or taking tests - Let us assure you this is not the case. We are creating a fun environment where children learn the importance of basic skills like observation, reading a map and following clues. With a special introduction of Science Day children will have fun with informative experiments aimed to show them day-to-day interesting things. Days like the mini-Olympics aim to teach teamwork and co-operation whilst still being fun and competitive.
Outings/Activities
We have been told on numerous occasions that we are an extremely well behaved group. When on outings we stick together as a group and ensure the safety of all children as our number one priority.
Behaviour
We expect all children to be on their best behavior when on the Holiday Programme. Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated and the Time Out method of behavior control is used. If unacceptable behavior continues, children will be removed from the group and parents will be called to collect their child.
First Aid
A first aid kit and senior first aid officer will be on hand both within the facility and on outings. If your child has any other condition that you believe is important please inform us in the morning when you sign in. This could be as simple as asthma or more complex situations - Remember we can’t treat what we don’t know.
If you have any questions or enquires please do not hesitate to contact us on 09 815 7009 or email Michal on michaltangaroa@clmnz.co.nz
