Hi I'm Melinda Lokeni. I have been coming to CLM Health & Fitness Mt Wellington for six months, and I am loving it! The classes are great and fun, and the trainers are awesome.
Within this time I have participated in the XTrain Games, Boot Camp and Ufit Performance. I love the group challenges because they keep motivated and out of trouble. The trainers are fantastic, they are so supportive, encouraging and professional. Thank you guys! The staff are always welcoming, warm and friendly. It is a great gym to meet up with friends, make new ones, and have a hard out session together.
I know my strength and fitness level has definitely improved since joining this gym, and it's one of the best decisions I have made. My most challenging event was running the Auckland Half Marathon, and it was a memorable experience. That was quite an achievement personally, because running is the hardest for me, and I am just trying to beat it.
I feel absolutely fabulous and looking good at my lowest weight in a very long time. I believe that it all comes down to dedication, perseverance, hard training with a positive attitude, and the amazing support from our trainers. You guys rock!!
Exercise is a whole lot of fun especially in a group atmosphere at CLM Mt Welly. But if all else fails 'do a burpee' or 10 it's the best thing for you!
Hi I'm Joanna, and thanks to Jaye, the team at CLM and my training partner John, I was able to achieve my weight loss and fitness goals. I never thought I would get there but with all their help and encouragement I went from being 32kg's over weight to completing my first marathon. I first met Jaye in January 2011 when I enrolled in my first Boot Camp. It was brutal but the results more than made up for it. At that stage I was just wanting to give the weight loss a kick in the pants.
It wasn't until my second boot camp in April-May that I developed the running bug and decided that I could finally realise my dream of completing a marathon. In October I entered the Auckland Marathon and even though it was grueling I am so pleased I did it. It just proves with the right people behind you, you can achieve your dreams.
Hi I'm Wayne. I am 36 years old and to date I have lost 60kg in the last 8 months. The main reason I decided to lose the weight is a doctor told me I would be dead at 50 and I thought 14 more years is a bit short of a life span.
After being on a diet for a month and the weight coming off, I decided to join a gym. CLM was my first choice as it is only a 10 minute walk from my home. I had my first consultation with Jaye and he put my mind at ease and I have been coming 4-5 times a week ever since.
My only regret is that I didn't do this 10 years ago. I can't thank the team at CLM Health & Fitness enough, they made me feel welcome straight away. So if you are thinking of joining a gym, I can't recommend it enough.
In Feb 2008 I decided it was time to get healthy! I saw a photo of myself and didn't like what I saw, was watching the biggest loser and thinking if they can do it I can, and knowing my family history makes it unsafe for me to be overweight were the catalyst to do something. So I signed up for bootcamp. And I thought if I was going to do that I may as well look at the nutrition side too. So that's how it all started.
Bootcamp was great for learning that I could push myself harder than I thought. But Kate's advice has been critical in dropping the weight. Her advice was very practical and workable. The two main changes were reducing my portion sizes and making a few food choice swaps. I have lost 18k (and about 17cm each off waist, abs and hips) in just over a year. The change has been great, I feel fitter, healthier and better about myself.
I have increased my exercise from 2-3 times a week exercise to 4-5 times a week. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I still have a couple of kilos to go but feel confident I can get there and then keep up the healthy regime. CLM members and staff have been great and very encouraging! I am always getting supportive and positive comments from people which makes it all easier. So a big thanks to CLM staff - especially Kate, Jay, Sean, Will, Victor and Mel P. I hope my success will inspire others!
Hi, I'm Warren. I started going to CLM in March 2010 at a weight of 70kgs and with a beer gut. I hadn't exercised for 4 years before that so I was really unfit and my body was out of shape. After working out for approximately a month I lost about 5 kgs, weighing about 65 kgs thus losing my beer gut. After another 1-2 months I gained another 10kg, building strength and muscle, but I still had a high bodyfat percentage.
When the CLM staff encouraged me to compete in their bodybuilding competition in December 2011 I got a proper nutritional layout and things started to really change in terms of my appearance. After 4 months of strict diet and intense training, I lost 4 kgs from 75kg to 71 kg (all fat) going from 12% to 6% body fat.
As a result I won my division for short physique men in the CLM Bodybuilding competition. This experience has encouraged me to compete in future bodybuilding competitions (NABBA/FBB). I would not have gotten this far without the support from the CLM team in Mt Wellington. Not only are they supportive, but they also create a fun environment. I would like to thank the whole CLM team for what they have done for me.
