JUDGED NZ'S BEST – Wayne Riley
CLM (Community Leisure Management) is excited to share the news that Wayne Riley of the Whangarei Aquatic Centre was recently awarded the NZRA Lifeguard of the Year for 2011.
Wayne has spent over 20 years in the industry; making a huge contribution at the Whangarei Aquatic centre over the last few years and leaving legacies in other centres and communities that he has worked at previously.
Wayne is always looking to upskill himself, with qualifications that include Pool Water Treatment courses, Supervisory Development, Managing Staff Relations, Sports Coaching and is also a NPLA Assessor.
The commitment and dedication that Wayne shows to the facility and the industry is outstanding. Currently Wayne leads a team of aquatic staff at the facility and demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities and demonstrates high standards in everything he does.
Within the Northland community Wayne is well known and highly regarded, and this is attributed to the outstanding customer service that Wayne delivers daily. Wayne is regularly involved with initiating ideas and new concepts within the facility and was integral in the process of reusing the facilities back water and pumping it back into the outdoor dive well, so that it could be gifted and reused by the Council when the district was in a dire draught situation. It resulted in Council receiving more than 60,000L of water a week from the centre.
As well as delivering high standards to the Whangarei Aquatic Facility, Wayne is also invaluable in repairing all the pool inflatable’s across the CLM group, he has experience with auto and marine upholstery which over the last couple of years has saved the organisation a considerable amount of money.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Wayne again for all the hard work, dedication, time and effort that he puts both into the Whanagrei Aquatic Centre and also CLM as an a organisation, and to congratulate him on a well deserved award and national recognition.
