After reading the article in the 2011 Healthy Lifestyle section of the Tribune dated 16th February about CLM, I felt the urge to write I guess what you could call an unofficial testimonial.
My name is Fiona Armstrong and I became a member of CLM in November 2009. At that time I initially joined for only six months as I wasn’t holding much hope for any success as I had joined a number of other gyms in Palmerston North and had had no results so figured why would it be any different here. It didn’t take long for me to realize how wrong I was.
Vaughan and the team are amazing and so supportive of every member there, and are all very approachable and friendly. I know they have managed to get me doing things I never thought I would. Not so long ago I would never have pictured myself doing one spin class let alone loving them and trying to fit them in on a regular basis, they have also got me running, also something I never imagined myself doing. The regular reassessments and new exercise programs they give to every member as part of your membership help to keep you motivated especially if you are like me and get bored quickly or easily.
I’ve taken advantage of the personal training sessions deal a few times so far and thoroughly enjoy them and Vaughan definitely likes to throw some fun in the sessions. One session that springs to mind is a session in which we used only balloons, which admittedly when he told me I kind of laughed at thinking what help is a balloon going to be, but was one of the most intense but fun sessions I have had so far.
I am also taking part in the current 8 week weight loss challenge and am enjoying that thoroughly as well. We are only a couple of weeks in to it but I am already seeing and feeling the changes. I can’t wait to see how far I can get in those 8 weeks. Already it has been a good and fun way to meet new people and have some fun while getting healthy.
At the end of my initial six month membership I added, without a second thought another two years to my membership, set myself the challenge of completing the Tough Guy and Gal competition in July. I am now well on my way to getting myself in to a healthy weight range. In the 14 months or so since I have been a member I have lost approximately 20kg, I used to wear a size 24-26 and am now wearing an 18-20 and in some cases can fit a 16. I still have a way to go but I know that with the help and support of the trainers at CLM, most of whom are now friends as well as trainers I know I will get there. I definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to make a healthy change in their life.
