Getting back to swimming at level 2!

As of midday Friday 29th May, the following changes will be introduced into our aquatic facilities:

Please be aware that Level 2 operational plans remain in force and the below are updated to any changes.

Lane swimming will increase from 4 swimmers per lane to 7 in a 25m pool. 50m pools will increase from 8 to 14 swimmers per lane.  All other rules remain in place such as 2m distance at the end of lanes, no standing talking at end of lanes, 5-second gap etc.

Squads, clubs and organised classes will have no maximum number of swimmers per lane and all previous restrictions are now lifted. We still expect these groups to stay within their groups and not cross over with any other groups. They need to stay 2m apart from other groups.  Swimmers must come and go and not linger around the facility or in the car park.  It is still recommended that swimmers arrive ready to swim and leave immediately after swimming and shower at home.  Only one spectator/parent per swimmer inside the facility.

Leisure swimming will be introduced back to the facility with the following restrictions in place:

A total number of 30 leisure swimmers in the facility at any one time and the following details for each pool:

  • Lap Pool - 7 people
  • Bombing Pool - 6 people and operational from 8 am – 12 pm
  • Spa pool -  6 persons at one time
  • Leisure Pool - 10 people and operational from 6am – 9am, 11 am – 3pm & 6pm – 8pm (little slide to be closed at all times)
  • Children Pool - currently closed
  • Physical distancing remains in place and customers must stay 2m away from other members of the public
  • Lifeguards must be actively monitoring physical distancing and in some situations will need to kindly remind customers of the rules.

Swim School:

From midday, Friday 29th May all swim instructors will be able to teach from in the water for all babies, preschool and school-age classes and where able will try to keep swimmers 1m apart as much as possible. This change is due to classes being considered groups as per government guidelines and treated like community sport which can recommence from Friday as long as hygiene, distancing and contact tracing procedures are in place which we have implemented. Instructors can help swimmers physically and go back to teaching as they normally would. If an instructor wants to wear a mask or similar appropriate PPE this is allowed.  Please ensure only one parent/caregiver accompanies their child.
