Our Facility Rules

Keeping the Wairoa community safe while using our facility is at the forefront of everything we do. To help us keep you safe we ask you to please follow our facility rules.

SUPERVISION POLICY

Children under 8 years: MUST be actively supervised by a caregiver 16 years or over. Actively supervised means:  

  • Watching your children at all times to be able to provide immediate assistance. 
  • At a close distance where you can see, hear and be heard by your child and your child must be able to see you. 

Children under 5 years: 

  • Must be within arms reach of their caregiver who is 16 years old or over at all times and both under 5 and their caregiver must wear a red wristband supplied by facility staff.

Maximum adult to child ratios: 

  • One adult to two under 5yr's
  • One adult to four 5-10yr's 
  • One adult to one under 5 and three 5-10yr's 

APPROPRIATE SWIMWEAR

 

Appropriate Swimwear: 

Rash tops, board shorts or any other swimming togs made of polyester are suitable . 

We DO NOT allow: 

Any cotton material t-shirts, singlets, basketball singlets, rugby jerseys, denim or under garments.

Swim togs can be purchased at reception.

GENERAL POOL RULES 

  • Have heaps of fun and enjoy your facility
  • All children under 8 years must be supervised at all times by and adult 16 years and over. 
  • Please watch your children not your mobiles. 
  • Walking only please, no running on poolside. Please use designated eating areas. 
  • Glassware and food is prohibited on poolside.
  • Any abusive or unsocial behaviour will not be tolerated, please respect others at all times.  
  • This is a non smoking facility.
  • Please shower before using the pools
  • Do not leave property unattended.

Adult Men’s Social Basketball League
Max of 8 registered teams - minimum 7 players & maximum 10 players per team

Registrations:
Team registrations made through the Facility Website.
All players must be registered to be able to take court.
A player can only be registered in one team.
Players can NOT play for more than one team in this league under any circumstances (this includes filling in for another team).
Registration and payment due before the League starts.
Registration costs cover the payment of fees, referees, venue hire, score bench officials & prize giving and administration.

Game:
4x 10min running clock quarters.
1min quarter/halftime breaks.

Draw:
In the event of a drawn game, a golden point period will be played. The first team to score during this period will be declared the winner

Timeouts:
Each team is allowed one timeout per quarter. Unused timeouts do not carry over to the next quarter.
No timeouts are permitted during the final 3 minutes of the fourth quarter.

Format:
First weeks of the League: Round robin
Second last week: Semis
Last week: Finals

Format may change depending on number of entries.
Playoffs decided from:
Table placings.
Points differential on a point draw.
Win = 3 pts, Loss = 1 pt, Default = 0 pt to defaulting team.
Default game, the score will be recorded as 20 - 0 against the defaulting team.

A team must:
Have a minimum of 4 players at tipoff for the game to commence.
Field a 5th player within the first 5 minutes of the first quarter for the game to continue.

Other:
If a team fails to comply the game will result as a default against the offending team.
All other FIBA rules apply.

Uniforms:
Teams must play in same-coloured singlets/shirts with numbers on the front and back.
Appropriate footwear to be worn (no street/casual shoes).
No Jewellery to be worn (of any sort).
Nails must be cut short.
Solid coloured undershirts are allowed underneath the uniform only. If more than one player wears an undershirt, they must all be alike, same colour and same style.
Failure to comply with the uniform rules will result in the offending player being unable to take the court. This is at the discretion of the venue controller.

Note: The centre will have bibs with player numbers if your team does not have a uniform. However, the team must play in the same-coloured t/shirt or singlet.
Code of Conduct:
Abusive behaviour: Will not be tolerated under any circumstance when directed towards referees, score-bench officials and/or other players and will be dealt with immediately by either of the following methods:
Player - 1x Technical/unsportsmanlike foul against the player at the discretion of the referee, if the behaviour continues then a 2nd technical/unsportsmanlike foul will be issued, the game stopped, while the player removes themselves from the game. The game will continue once the player is off the court.
Spectator – Facility staff will communicate with the offender and request the behaviour cease immediately, if the behaviour continues the spectator will be asked to leave the venue premises immediately while the game is stopped. The game will continue once the spectator has left the building.
Only the team coach or captain can approach the referees or score bench with questions.

Player/Team/Game Disputes/Requests:
Any disputes will be brought to the attention of the officials – referee/WCC staff. The dispute/query will be noted on the underside of the relevant game score card and dealt with at the appropriate time/or by the appropriate person/personnel.

Ethics:
As a player you will understand that referees, score bench, officials and opposing players are people too, they do it for the love of the game and are a person just like you therefore they should be treated as you would expect to be treated yourself.
As a player you play for the love of the game and to showcase your skills not to seek retribution on an opposing player or for being outplayed and out skilled.

Miscellaneous:
First Aid: First aid will be available for minor injuries. This does not include strapping tape.
