The Fifties Forward Club is an established, activities-based club that meets twice-weekly at Whangarei Aquatic Centre for aerobic and aquarobic classes. They have a membership base of 70 to 80 members, some with disabilities and all in the older age bracket.
Keeping fit and active is essential for quality of life for the members, who also enjoy the social aspect with a coffee or tea in the café after their workout.
Membership of the club costs just $25 per year, which also entitles members to a discounted group fitness membership with the Whangarei Aquatic Centre. The club also organises meetings, lunches and outings.
Aerobic Classes - Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
- 45 minutes of mainly 'sit fit' exercises using weights and fitness bands.
- 5 - 10 minutes of stretching and balancing.
Aqua Aerobics - Tuesdays and Thursdays 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.
- A mixture of shallow and deep water aerobic exercises using noodles for flotation or resistance.
Come along if you would be interested in joining the club or would just like to come along to join in a class and see if it’s for you.
