The whare just got bigger

After a successful launch in 2021 the rangatahi hauora programme ‘Tēnei Tōku Whare’, supported by Te Puni Kōkiri and delivered and framed around CLM's Aroora kaupapa, has seen a significant boost in support in 2022 and will be delivering to even more rangatahi across the wider Whangārei rohe.

While continuing to support rangatahi from Te Kura Tuarua o Te Kamo, they will now also be providing the programme to rangatahi from Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Rawhitiroa and Whangārei Girls High School.

Wānanga began in February and will continue monthly for the rest of the school year.

‘Tenei Tōku Whare’ is a hauora-based programme set amongst the locally significant tauparapara 'Te Whare Tapu o Ngāpuhi'. Rangatahi can expect to be exposed to a wide range of mātauranga and tikanga to support their growth and development from; water-based activities like whakaheke ngaru (surfing), water safety, waka ama, and river kōpapa, to land-based activities like climbing maunga and Kaipara Māori (athletic games).

Wrap-around support is also provided along with gym memberships and gear to ensure rangatahi have appropriate kit for the various taiao locations.
