In August, Achilles Auckland started up a new sub chapter in South Auckland to especially include the unique catchment of Blind/Vision Impaired people in South Auckland through the BLENNZ transition students, BLV social club and the Manukau South Blind Sports Club.

A part of this 5 BLENNZ transition students registered as Achilles members and have been attending the Southern park run with Achilles, with the use of their volunteer guides. Three of the students went on to participate in the Auckland Marathon, Amy - 5km and Kohl/Nico - 11km.

This has been hugely beneficial for their overall well being, physical with the running, social with the connections they have made and great for their self confidence.

Achilles South Auckland Chapter meet fortnightly at Southern Park Run, Saturdays, 8am, Conifer Grove Reserve, Takanini
