CLM Community Sport are delighted to announce the appointment of MAIA LEWIS (MNZM) to the role of Korikori Schools & Kura Manager.

The purpose of this role is to lead a highly skilled and experienced team of nine education professionals responsible for supporting Counties Manukau Schools and Kura increase tamariki and rangatahi participation through play, physical education, active recreation and sport opportunities across the region.

Maia comes to the CLM Community Sport team from College Sport Auckland, where she is currently one of three Relationship Managers.

I have been employed in the Sport and Education sectors for over 27 years now from grassroots to high performance, as a teacher, international player and captain, administrator, coach, support staff member, advisor, manager, board director, influencer, and advocate. I have vast experience in Sport and Active Recreation, at both governance and operational levels, in particular enabling quality opportunities in the areas of Rangatahi, Waahine, Disability and Bi-Culturalism.  I also have current and past experience of coaching and captaining cricket from international through to club level which equips me with high level leadership, team culture and influencing skill sets. My past experience of leading and implementing an adapted national water sports programme in my disability advisor role for the Halberg Foundation has enabled me to strengthen my position of influence of attitudes, behaviours and processes for inclusion.

This position would allow me to extend my passion for making a difference in Sport, Active Recreation and Play and provide diversity, influence and leadership for the betterment of Rangatahi and Tamariki across Counties-Manukau.  This role would also fulfil my desire to step up into a management role of leading like-minded individuals to make a true difference and influence the Counties-Manukau community to lead active healthy lives.  I am ready and willing to take this next step.”

Maia will be joining the team mid-late April 2021.
