Youth Sports Advisor

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about young people, coach development, and influencing adults to help deliver quality sport participation experiences to join the dynamic team at CLM Community Sport. As a full-time Youth Sport Advisor based in Manukau, Auckland, you will play a crucial role in developing and delivering sport and recreation programmes that positively impact young people in the local community. With a focus on active lifestyles and youth engagement, this role is vital in helping CLM Community Sport achieve its mission.

What you'll be doing

  1. Designing, implementing and evaluating youth sport coaching programmes that engage and inspire South Auckland tamariki and rangatahi

  2. Building and maintaining relationships with sports clubs, schools, community groups and other stakeholders as required to identify needs and develop solutions

  3. Support the recruitment, training and management of volunteers to support the delivery of meaningful youth sport opportunities.

  4. Provide regional sport development leadership to the sector so that Balance is Better and Good Sports® is embedded as key adult influencer and sector initiatives in relation to young people 5-18 years - targeting sports leaders, coaches, parents, caregivers, teachers, sports administrators, and school sports leaders.

  5. Encouraging and supporting the sport sector to provide a better range of participation and development opportunities for young people in Counties Manukau

  6. Monitoring and reporting on programme impact to ensure continuous improvement

What we're looking for

  1. Relevant tertiary qualification in sport management, recreation, youth work or a related field (Preferred)

  2. 3+ years' experience in developing and delivering relevant youth sport programmes

  3. Strong community engagement skills and the ability to build lasting partnerships

  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young people

  5. Demonstrated success in working with volunteers and coordinating programme logistics

  6. Cultural awareness and understanding of diverse community settings
