Kori Water Safety Visits
At SwimMagic we love to take our friendly mascot Kori the little blue penguin out into the community and share important Water Safety messages to keep everyone in Aotearoa safe around water.
We like to visit as many Early Childhood Centres, Parent and Child groups and Schools across the country to educate and spread the word on how to be safer around water. Children need to learn at a young age the importance of keeping safer in and around water.
Kori has some very important messages to share with everyone.
- Adults must supervise children at all times around water
- Always swim within reach of an adult
- Learn to float on your back
- Always wear a lifejacket when you are on a boat
- At the beach swim between the flags
During our visits, Kori will add songs and story time to these important messages to help the children to remember them. Kori loves to get the children involved and have lots of fun.
If you would like Kori to come and visit your centre or school please contact us.
Water Safety Colouring in
We have some fun water safety colouring in for the children to do. Colour them in and bring them back to one of our SwimMagic Swim Schools for them to be displayed on our wall.
Splashtime
We have free Splashtime sessions at all our SwimMagic Swim Schools which is a free 30-minute class for adults with under 5 years old children. Come and play and learn some key water safety skills to practice in the water with your child.
Water Safety Stories
We work closely with Water Safety NZ and they have some great Water Safety stories to share with your children.
Water Safety Survey - complete to win
If your child has had a Kori visit recently we would love for you to complete our water safety survey and go in the draw to win a free 5-week block of lessons at your nearest SwimMagic Swim School. This will help us tailor our visits to provide you and your child with all the information you need to stay safe around water.

Tips for ocean swimming this summer
If you can swim in a pool you can swim in open water, right? Wrong. Swimming in the ocean is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, connect with nature and keep fit. However, it’s not as simple as just changing location.
