Leisure Pool Re-opening Announcement
Leisure Pool Re-opening Announcement
We are pleased to announce that upgrade works in our leisure pool areas are ahead of schedule and we are in a position to begin a gradual re-opening from Monday 30th June.
We expect this to begin with the Hydrotherapy Pool and Spa Pool. Hydrotherapy classes and public sessions will resume on Monday. Please visit our Group Fitness timetable for full details: Fitness Timetable | Whangarei Aquatic Centre
The Wave Pool, Tots Pool and Hydroslides will remain closed while work is completed. We hope to have these pools open later next week, and we will update as progress is assessed. Please note that whilst our team are doing everything in their power to have pools ready to meet this timeline, we are subject to the speed of refilling, heating and receiving clean laboratory tests. We will not compromise safety of our swimmers to rush the re-opening of pools.
We have seen a wide range of maintenance completed during this closure and appreciate your patience as these improvements have been made.
Key Areas of Focus:
- Water Temperature: Improved heating systems to ensure more consistent and comfortable water temperatures across all pools.
- Water Quality: Upgraded filtration and treatment systems to maintain the highest standards of water cleanliness.
- Air Handling: Enhanced ventilation systems to provide better air quality for both swimmers and spectators.
- Pool Tiles: Replacement and regrouting of tiles.
- Flooring: All poolside flooring upgraded.
Work Continues On:
- Hydroslides: Replacement of stairs and supporting structure.
- Storage: Installation of cubbies and lockers for safe storage of belongings.
The upgrades to the Whangārei Aquatic Centre are funded by Whangārei District Council.
Update:
Competition Pool, Male and Female Changing Rooms and Learners Pool maintenance are complete, work is still ongoing for the Family Changing Rooms, Sauna and Hydroslides.
