Kāhu Kōrako Alumni Wānanga 2026

In May 2026 the Kāhu Kōrako Alumni rōpū (group) came together for a wānanga based around connection, reflection, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Exploration of Culturally Significant Landmarks

Wānanga Cultural Site Visits

During the course of the wānanga the rōpū visited a number of culturally significant landmarks where they learnt pūrākau, atuatanga, tikanga, and mātauranga specific to these locations which included the Reotahi Coastal Walkway, the Kawiti Glow Worm cave, Ngawha/Te Waiariki Hot Springs, and Parihaka Maunga.

Evening Wānanga Sessions

Evening sessions were also held, with the first night focussed on developing a greater understanding around Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the second night focussed on exploring ‘Te Hinengaro,’ an Aroora model designed to assist in gaining a better understanding of how we think, through a Te Ao Māori lens.

The Kāhu Kōrako kaupapa came to life in late 2019, and in its very first year two mauri stones were gifted to the kaupapa by renowned carver Timoti Moran of Te Tau Ihu
