Are you a registered teacher who wants to make a positive difference in the lives of tamariki in primary and intermediate schools across Counties Manukau?

CLM Community Sport in partnership with Aktive are looking to recruit a HEALTHY ACTIVE LEARNING ADVISOR who will work directly with selected primary and intermediate schools across the Counties Manukau region. This role is critical to Healthy Active Learning, a joint initiative between Sport New Zealand and the Ministries of Health and Education to improve child and youth wellbeing through healthy eating and drinking and quality physical activity.

Within the Auckland Approach to Community Sport, Korikori has been established to build a system across Auckland that allows young people 5-18 years (tamariki and rangatahi) in priority socio-economic and community of activity areas to have quality physical activity experiences in regard to play, physical education, active recreation and sport within primary, intermediate and secondary school and kura settings.

As part of Korikori, the Healthy Active Learning initiative helps to create healthy and active school environments by improving the wellbeing of children and young people through healthy eating and drinking, and quality physical activity. Healthy Active Learning Advisors will work with Boards of Trustees, principals, senior leaders and teachers of primary and intermediate schools to provide advice and customised support. This will enable schools to strategise, plan and develop systems that contribute to the development of an active and healthy school culture.

As a Healthy Active Learning Advisor, you will have the following attributes and skills:

  • Qualified teacher (Preferred, however would consider other educational experience)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and/or Te Marautanga o Aotearoa
  • Extensive knowledge of the Health and Physical Education Curriculum with practical delivery experience
  • Knowledge of the systems, structures and operating models that underpin the education, sport, active recreation and play sectors across Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Knowledge and understanding of how the sport and education sectors interact to deliver PE, sport, active recreation and play opportunities for tamariki
  • Experience in leading change in the school setting and influencing at different levels (Boards of Trustees, management, teachers, parents)
  • Excellent communication and strong relationship-building skills.

This role will involve working at various locations within the Counties Manukau area and require the ability to be flexible with work hours.

If you are an innovative, motivating change agent with education sector experience, and keen to join a fun, hard-working team committed to making a positive difference for tamariki, then we’d like to hear from you!
