CLM Community Sport is super excited to announce and welcome the following two staff appointments for the above positions in the Counties Manukau Region. These roles will be working in Secondary School settings looking to make a positive difference to rangatahi engagement in play, physical education, active recreation and sport.

INTRODUCING: ABIGAIL WHIU

Abby comes to CLM Community Sport from Sport Waikato, where she is currently the Secondary School Sports Development Officer.

"Kia ora, I have a strong passion for the sport and recreation industry and keen to continue to build on my knowledge of the sector to date having worked in various roles across a range of organisations. Sport has always been a big part of my life and I have really enjoyed the wellbeing benefits that come with being involved in a team in particular hockey, volleyball and tag. In recent years I have picked up social indoor netball, turbo touch and circuit/ functional fitness training which is loads of fun! I am looking forward to starting my new role and working to provide strategic leadership to the school sport sector with a particular focus on increasing the quality and quantity of sporting opportunities that meet the needs of our regions young people."

Abby joins the team at CLM Community Sport on Wednesday 7th April.

INTRODUCING:  JUNIOR MANAPORI

Junior is a proud South Auckland resident, who is involved in a range of sports and community activities.

“Kia orana my name is Teariki Junior Manapori.  I am of Cook Islands - Niuean and Scottish descent.  It is a privilege and humbling to be given this opportunity.

I have been the Director of Sport at Auckland Girls Grammar School for the last three years.  Prior to this role, I previously worked with the Ministry of Social Development in many roles ranging from Case Manager, Work Broker through to Management over 15 years.  I have also represented New Zealand and the Cook Islands in Tennis, Touch Rugby, Netball and Basketball.

My passion is to see our young people be given opportunities and physical activity experiences in the areas of play, physical education, and active recreation within primary, intermediate, secondary and Kura settings.  The outlook on my new role as Regional Sports Director is to support and connect with schools in Counties Manukau. To help design, plan, facilitate, support and provide advice to our schools. I look forward to working alongside you all and in helping to provide opportunities for our young people in Counties Manukau.

Kia manuia
