CLM Teams Lend a Hand for a Cleaner, Greener Whakatū 🌿
Staff from the Trafalgar Centre and Saxton Field rolled up their sleeves to take part in Spring Clean Whakatū Nelson 2025, joining others across the community to help tidy and care for the region’s much-loved public spaces.
The group focused their efforts around Rutherford Park and the Maitai River, areas that hold special significance for both locals and visitors. Their work helped to remove litter and protect the natural environment, ensuring these beautiful spaces remain safe and welcoming for all.
“We care deeply about the area that surrounds the Trafalgar Centre,” said one team member. “The Maitai River and Rutherford Park are such key parts of our community — it feels good to give back and help keep them looking their best.”
Sustainability and community pride were key drivers behind the effort, aligning with CLM’s ongoing commitment to supporting environmentally responsible practices across all its facilities.
“It’s always rewarding to get out of the office and make a visible difference,” said another staff member. “Every piece of rubbish we collect is one less that ends up harming wildlife or polluting our waterways.”
The event was part of a wider collaboration between CLM, Nelson City Council, and MakeShift Spaces, celebrating collective action and environmental stewardship across Whakatū.
The Trafalgar Centre and Saxton Field teams are now looking forward to seeing what their friends at Pūtangitangi Greenmeadows Centre come up with for their own sustainability efforts.
