Trafalgar Park diverts nearly 90% of event waste from landfill
In line with the recent rising of Matariki & Puanga (signalling the beginning of the Māori New Year) the Kāhu Kōrako programme, kicked off again in Te Tai Tokerau.
The event created 85.4m3 of waste, with only 18m3 going to landfill. The majority of the waste was made up of recycling (53.4m3) and composting (14m3).

The kāhu kōrako cadetship programme began in December 2019 with 25 participants, 13 selected across the organisation nationally and 12 from the Tai Tokerau region.
