CLM & the Richmond Aquatic Centre is very proud of Daniel Bell who was selected as the development coach as part of the NZ Tri Development series. The NZ tri series team was the only NZ team selected that was able to race/compete this year outside of the NZ Olympic team and consisted of the top 18 years & under para and able bodies athletes separated into three teams. The Tasman Magic Academy program also had William Seymour selected.

At the 2021 NZ Open Water Champs Tasman Magic Academy had 5 swimmers representing the Tasman swim club (Alec Swan, Abbey Smale, Izzy Thurlow, Brooke Swan, Daniel Bell) competing across the 2.5km 5km and 10km events over the weekend. The team came away 4th overall on club points. The team also came home with the Top provincial (Non Major City) club in NZ. They had 3 athletes and Coach (Abbey Smale, Alec Swan and Brooke Swan, Daniel Bell) all short listed for the NZ Junior World Open Water Swimming Championships based on results in the age specific events which was ultimately cancelled due to COVID-19.

At the 2021 AON NZ Swimming Championships (Opens/Olympic Trials) Tasman Magic Academy travelled with 6 athletes  (Alec Swan, Josh Amyes, Izzy Thurlow, Abbey Smale, William Seymour, Samantha Harman). They came away with 1 Gold 2 Silver and 3 Age Group Bronze Medals (17-18 year Age Group). The team also broke 16 SNM Age Group and 8 SNM Open records over the course of the week.
