CLM Contributes to Another Successful WAVES Conference

A team of 20 CLM delegates from across New Zealand recently attended Recreation Aotearoa’s 2026 WAVES Conference, enjoying two days of inspiring presentations, professional development opportunities, and valuable industry networking.

The conference also provided an opportunity to celebrate several outstanding achievements from across the CLM network.

Our CLM Lifeguard Team delivered an impressive performance in the OPSEC National Pool Lifeguard Competition, securing third place against strong competition from around the country.

Taylor Harvey was named a finalist for the Aquatic Leader of the Year Award, recognising his passion, leadership, and commitment to the aquatic industry. Taylor's impact extends beyond the workplace through his volunteer work as a Surf Lifeguard, making him a well-deserved finalist.

Rotorua Aquatic Centre's Mel van der Bruggen was recognised as one of the top five Pool Lifeguard of the Year nominees nationally. This is an outstanding achievement and a reflection of Mel's professionalism, dedication, and commitment to keeping our communities safe.

Adding to the celebrations, Dave McKenzie and Lynden Noakes both achieved ARPro Level 3 revalidation. This prestigious accreditation recognises experienced industry leaders who are helping shape and guide the future of the sector.

To cap off a successful conference, Kirsty Knowles played a prominent role across the two -day event, presenting twice, including as part of a "Girl Boss" panel featuring female leaders from across the industry. Kirsty also took to the stage as MC for the Awards Evening, showcasing the leadership and expertise that exists within the CLM team.
