Richmond Aquatic Centre is an iconic Tasman facility. We are lucky to partner with a number of amazing local organisations like the ones listed below.
Whakatu Marae - Hauora
We have worked extremely hard to establish a deep relationship with the Whakatu Marae to provide staff and the community with health guidance and tracking on the Evolt Scales by our fitness team leader. In past years we have also supported local wakaama by having flip and floats and lifejacket safety performed in the pools here before needed in the open ocean. This relationship will see more in-depth movements in the future.
Coast Guard NZ
Coastguard Nelson is a growing partnership and we are about to launch a further value partnership around water safety in the Nelson Tasman region.
We also support their national wide BIG Swim campaigns and delivering the coast guard safe boating lessons. Coast guard also complete some of their testing here in the wave pool
Nelson Netball
One of our longest standing partnerships in the sporting region with benefits for staff, representative teams and all registered Netball Players. Our team are often delivering preseason session in and out of the water for players, and running warm ups at carnival weeks Kori the Pengiun is also a big netball fan and makes appearance at the courts from time to time
Nelson Basketball
Another one of our longest partnerships where we aim to add value to local players with passes to the facility, assisting with costs (sponsoring summer camp) and rep players teams. You will often see members of our team on the sidelines at all ages of the game.
Nelson Giants
We have been part of the Nelson Giants family for over 12 years. We are the place for all things recovery and also gym visits for players and support staff. This relationship also has us as a player sponsor each year to further support having a high level team from such a small region. Although the Giants season is short we stand behind the team 12 months of the year.
Tasman Volleyball
One of our newest sporting partnerships in the region. We love to add value with health and fitness benefits for Tasman volleyball staff, recovery sessions for representative players and products/services that have add to fundraising such as memberships – the last raffle raised over $4.5k
We have even entered a team into the legends league – this has been a blast for our work culture
Supporting School Pools
We are proud to have and keep providing at no cost guidance to local schools to ensure operation standards are meet. Waimea College and Stoke School are recent examples.
Kainga Ora
We are currently working with to deliver a number of free events across Nelson and Tasman, focusing on areas where they have a significant number of clients who might not typically have access to such opportunities.
Honda NZ
Honda NZ has a dispatch and sales branch located just up the road and we are proud to have their staff and premier customers have health and wellness packages with us.
Choices NZ
Paid work experience partnership with Choices NZ given a full job experience to the special needs community. Including applying, interviewing, accepting, induction and performing work duties.
TDC Youth Council
We are currently working with the youth council to support a proposal to start a youth drop in centre based at the facility. This will see space given to teenagers to be teenagers and also engange in healthly activities l
Individual Athletes
We have been supporting a local legend – Litia Nacagilevu who is competing in the World Youth Weightlifting. Tia chooses the Richmond Aquatic Centre for her recovery needs.
Parks programmes and Free Community events
We have been delivering free events for the community for both the Nelson City Council and Tasman District Councils for at least the last 7 years. These free events engage the community to get active together and engage with local parks and reserves. Amazing races, art in the park and treasure hunts have been community favourites.
TDC Activity Trailer
We have been overseeing the TDC activity trailer for the last 12 months. We now have this out and about in the community vastly exceeding its previous home. The trailer supports community events, goes to birthday parties and the likes all around the region.
