TASMAN MAGIC COACHES
Shaun Foley - Head Coach
I competed in swimming for 10 years, representing New Zealand on two occasions at the Australian Junior National Championships and the World Wheelchair Games. During my competitive career, I won a bronze medal in the 200m Individual Medley, established multiple New Zealand para swimming records, and continue to hold the New Zealand record in the 400m Individual Medley.
With more than 15 years of coaching experience, I am passionate about developing swimmers of all ages and abilities, helping them realise their potential and achieve success at every stage of their swimming journey.
Throughout my coaching career, I have coached numerous swimmers to New Zealand national titles and supported athletes in gaining selection to New Zealand representative teams. A career highlight was coaching Joshua Wilmer to a gold medal in the Men's SB8 100m Breaststroke at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
In recognition of my contribution to athlete development and para swimming, I was honoured to receive the Swimming New Zealand Youth Para Coach of the Year Award in 2023.
I am a Swimming New Zealand Silver Accredited Coach and remain committed to continually developing my coaching knowledge while delivering programmes that enable swimmers to perform at their highest level and achieve long-term success in the sport.
